NOBODY

The solo plant on my

window sill waits for me

every evening.

A curious pigeon sits

at the same spot

and observes my tea

and reading.

Long ago Emily*

said " I am a nobody , are you a nobody too?"

Now I know

what she meant.

* a reference to Emily Dickinson.
